Connected to music legend Neil Young, who reportedly named a 1948 Buick Roadmaster hearse “Mort” and penned “Long May You Run” about it, this Flxible combination hearse/ambulance from New Baltimore, Michigan is an exceptionally rare find with only a handful known to exist today. Following long-term ownership within a Buick collection, the vehicle underwent extensive restoration and modernization, including a “pro-toured” build that prepared it for the 2018 Great Race — a grueling 1,000-mile journey that demonstrated its durability and performance.

Power comes from a 455 CI Big Block V8 bored 0.40 over, paired with a 700-R4 automatic transmission, a Mark V 9-inch rear end, and a Camaro subframe. The hearse is equipped with 4-wheel power disc brakes, power steering, ice-cold Vintage Air conditioning, a dual exhaust system, aftermarket cruise control, custom odometer gauges, tilt steering, and a Pioneer stereo. The black exterior was repainted approximately five years ago and retains a sharp appearance with a few small touch-ups from its road adventures, while the chrome and glass remain in excellent condition. The interior was tastefully redone in a two-tone red and gray scheme.
