A duplex combination hearse/ambulance with a rare narrow rear-pillar roofline — the pillar housing the hearse lighting — this 1962 Cadillac Hearse/Ambulance Combination by Miller Meteor was last seen listed at $8,100 in Pahrump, Nevada. Believed to show just 44,000 miles, the coach hasn’t been licensed since 1979 according to its plates. The original headliner and interior fabric remain intact with very little wear, while the original vinyl floor needs replacement. All seating is original, gauges and lights work (a few bulbs need replacing, including the front red emergency light), and the siren and roof-mounted Beacon Ray gumball light function.
Mechanical refreshening includes a new master cylinder, professionally boiled-out fuel tank, rebuilt carburetor and water pump, flushed block, and resealed engine. A 30-minute idle showed normal engine temperature, and the car moves forward and reverse — the seller planned a street test to confirm transmission shifting. Most everything from the firewall rearward was built by Miller Meteor, and their work holds reasonably solid except for inner and outer rocker panels, substandard repair work above the rear wheel well opening, and rust where the fender skirts mount. The main X-frame and body braces remain solid. The rear quarters behind the wheels are in surprisingly good original condition, though the old exhaust needs replacing, the aging paint was poorly prepped, and the right front lower bumper needs replacement. A total restoration candidate — white over red exterior with a black and white interior.
