1939 Cadillac LaSalle Flower Car Hearse Combination Series 50

1939 Cadillac LaSalle Flower Car driver side view

Built on a Series 50 LaSalle coupe chassis dispatched by GM to Meteor of Piqua, Ohio, this 1939 Cadillac LaSalle Flower Car — body number 523 — stands as the sole surviving example of its kind. Historical build sheets from GM media archives confirm only two commercial chassis were sent to Meteor that year: one ambulance (model 521) and this flower car (model 523), making it the only Meteor flower car constructed in 1939.

A meticulous frame-off restoration brought it beyond original splendor, with the engine, transmission, clutch, and rear brakes fully rebuilt. A new 12-volt wire harness improves reliability while preserving vintage character. The body was stripped to steel, treated with epoxy primers, and finished in a blasurit base-clear coat. The working deck features all-new custom stainless rails, a new aluminum floor, chromed rollers, and new running boards with stainless accents. A leather interior with carpet piped in leather completes the restoration.
