Built by Sayers & Scovill with its rear section modified to resemble the Miller Meteor design, this 1959 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 75 hearse from Waterloo, Ontario was positioned as an ideal Ecto-1 replica candidate. Significant restoration work had already been invested, saving a future buyer the years-long process of sourcing rare parts and completing the painstaking groundwork that most hearse restorations demand.
The hearse runs and drives, equipped with new front and rear brakes and nearly new tires from 2015, though a transmission issue currently prevents shifting from third to fourth gear, limiting top speed to approximately 40 mph. Interior upholstery remains incomplete, several roof gadgets have yet to be installed, and while the light bars are functional, the wig-wags and siren still require wiring. Despite the remaining finishing work, the vehicle draws crowds wherever it goes β a head start on one of cinema’s most iconic automotive builds.
