Dubbed “The Black Pearl,” this 1950 Buick Roadmaster Hearse takes an unconventional Rat Rod approach while retaining much of its original character. Cherished by the same owner for 37 years and stored indoors since 1990, the vehicle has avoided rain and snow for decades, resulting in a remarkably preserved body with only surface rust underneath. Professionally filled side windows add to its one-of-a-kind appearance, while a solid undercarriage with front floor repairs and treated wood rocker panels provides a sound foundation. The interior remains a work in progress, awaiting a new owner’s personal touch.
Mechanically, the hearse features a modern power brake system with new lines, hoses, and wheel cylinders, along with engine gasket replacements for reliability. The transmission has minor leaks that have remained manageable over the years. Unique modifications include Buick LeSabre power seats, minivan rear seats, plexiglass windows, an electric cooling fan, 12-volt electrics, an electric fuel pump, and a 4-barrel carburetor.
