1958 Cadillac Superior 3-way Hearse

1958 Cadillac Superior 3-way Hearse driver side

One of reportedly only two known surviving examples, this 1958 Cadillac Superior Hearse features the rare 3-way electric table design—with web research suggesting as few as 50 were built. The vehicle arrives as a roller without an engine or transmission, but steers fine with all tires holding air. No working brakes are currently present. The rear shocks appear to have operated off a hydraulic pump driven by the engine, raising and lowering as needed for weight distribution. Service stickers from California on the door likely explain the remarkably rust-free condition of the body and frame.

The body and frame are in very good condition with very little to no rust holes or repairs found anywhere on the car—just surface rust throughout and a very small amount on the front floor boards and around the electric table motor floor area. The front windshield and rear rounded corner glass are in good condition, while the rear door glass is plexiglass and most flat window and door glass has some degree of damage. The roof is straight and dent-free, door bottoms are super solid, and most stainless trim and chrome moldings remain intact. The original paint appears to still be present. The electric casket table itself is missing, though the motor and wiring remain. Interior is very poor with most of the headliner missing and gauges absent from the dash, though most Superior door trim and panels remain for patterning. The front power seat frame appears usable. All doors open and close, with the passenger door binding slightly on the front fender.
