Found in long-term storage, this 1969 Cadillac Superior Landau Hearse showed 49,787 original miles, though its 472 engine had been rebuilt around 1992–93 at 47,271 miles and had accrued only 2,500 miles since, per the receipts that accompanied the car. Fitted with dual exhaust and Thrush mufflers plus an Edelbrock Performer carb — original owner’s manual for the carb included — it had sat for years after the rebuild.
Structurally, the frame was very nice, rockers solid, undercarriage solid, and the rest of the car largely rust-free apart from a 4″ × 5″ rust hole in the driver’s side floorboard around heel position and corroded bottom dog legs on the front fenders, a trouble spot common to Cadillacs of this era. All glass was good except for a small rock ding in the windshield, centered toward the dash, with no spider webbing. The interior was complete but needed TLC.
When the last owner acquired it, a battery revealed the starter and flywheel were bad — the engine turned by hand, but the starter ground when engaged, so the engine was never heard running under that ownership. The gas tank was present but too deteriorated to use. Apart from a missing front V emblem, the car was complete and rolled easily with no frozen wheels, suiting it for transport. It carried a bill of sale and all engine rebuild receipts.
