This 1923 Ford Model TT Hearse was custom-built in 2010 by a husband-and-wife team, patterned after an Ertl 1:18 die-cast model with allowance for detail substitution. First shown publicly at the August 2010 Midwest Old Threshers Reunion in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, the vehicle was named the 2011 Feature Truck for Old Threshers and has been paraded and shown at various events since, including the 2017 ATHS national show in Des Moines, Iowa.
The chassis, motor, and transmission are original Model T components, with a wooden bed and cab construction and steel cowl, hood, fenders, and running boards. It is equipped with standard casket rollers and pins and accommodates full-sized and smaller caskets, though not oversized. Front lamps are ornamental only. An optional special-order enclosed trailer with 8-foot interior ceiling height (to accommodate the hearse’s height) was noted as potentially available for additional cost. The vehicle is listed for $23,000 and was posted on Hearses.org in July 2018.
