1960 Kaiser Carabela Hearse

1960 Kaiser Carabela Hearse passenger side view

Restored and featuring a rebuilt 226 straight-six engine paired with a manual transmission with column shift, this 1960 Kaiser Carabela Hearse represents a rare piece of Argentine automotive history. Built by Kaiser Motors Argentina, a subsidiary of the U.S.-based Kaiser Motors Corporation established in 1945, the Carabela transformed from a revered sedan model into an elegant funeral coach with a 190-inch wheelbase and imposing 285-inch overall length (23.75 ft / 7.24 m). The exterior presents black paint with tasteful chrome accents.

Practical funeral features include wrap-around back glass, a rear fold-down gate, and an 89-inch sliding casket holder with rollers. An ornate casket cover adorned with columns and illuminated flame casket lights adds visual distinction to the interior. The vehicle was fitted with new tires during restoration, and the mechanically rebuilt powertrain promises a nostalgic driving experience with full driver control through the column-shifted manual transmission. This is one of the rarest imports in the archive—American Kaiser built in Argentina.
