1969 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Cotner-Bevington Hearse

  • 1969 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Hearse driver side rear quarter view, "The Cremator"

Nicknamed “The Cremator” with the name boldly printed on its sides and rear, this 1969 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Hearse was built by Cotner-Bevington Coach Company and is one of only five known survivors from a production run of just twelve. Under the hood sits a 455 engine equipped with dual 4-barrel carburetors and a high-rise intake manifold, paired with a distinctive side pipe exhaust system featuring flame throwers capable of launching flames up to 60 feet. A big stereo system is discreetly housed inside the rear coffin, complementing the flame-throwing spectacle with an audio-visual experience that has drawn attention at car shows, races, and special events.

The hearse runs and drives exceptionally well on tires with only 500 miles of use, with additional features including underglow lights and a musical horn playing a funeral song. Minor quirks include a blinker that malfunctions when the headlamps are on and a tendency for fuel to drip from the back when the gas tank is overfilled. The seller notes that any activities involving the flame thrower system post-purchase are the sole responsibility of the buyer.
