This 1954 Pontiac Hearse carries a skull hood ornament in place of the factory ornament, a detail that gives the white bodywork an unconventional presence. Chrome trim and chrome bumpers frame the exterior, though dents are present on both the body and chrome. No coachbuilder nameplate or build documentation accompanies the car, leaving the conversion’s builder unidentified.
Inside, a partition with sliding glass separates the driver’s compartment from the casket compartment. Pontiac did not build hearses in-house in 1954, so the car began life as a sedan chassis converted by an independent coachbuilder.
